Honeymoon in Jamaica: Yah Mahn! No Problem.

So my last post left off with us hopping in the Highlander and riding off into the sunset. As you can see by the first picture we did eventually make it to the sunset, but oh my my my, was I tired when we made it there! We drove an hour from our reception to Chatanooga, TN. We stayed in the Presidential Suite at the Chattanoogan-- very swanky. I'll leave out all the details I know NO ONE wants to know (except for my close girlfriends, and in that case give me a call. ha!) At the hotel there was champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and a fabulous selection of fine cheeses. Gorham's Bluff (if you don't know, that is where we got married) also packed us two boxes packed full of food from our reception and cake-- oh, that cake. It was divine.
Going off on a slight tangent here: I have NEVER been a fan of wedding cake. NEVER! It is always too sweet, and the icing tastes like straight sugar and crisco (which it probably is). But I grew up on homemade, nothin' better, slap yo' momma, made from scratch buttercream icing. Not that fancy french stuff. The southern kind-- a pound of butter, mexican vanilla, and powdered sugar whipped to heavenly perfection. And when we were feeling really crazy we added melted white or semi-sweet chocolate chips. My tongue is slapping my face right now. So! When I tasted the wedding cake from my sweet friends Drew and Rachel's wedding, I knew that I would only be happy if that same person made my wedding cake. It was moist, dense, light (a contradiction, I know), slightly sweet, and smothered in whipped buttercream. And that, ladies in gentlemen, is exactly how our wedding cake tasted. Perfection!
Getting back to our journey to the sunset... We devoured the food that night, which made it our fourth meal of the day. Drug ourselves into bed, slept for about four hours, woke up early and drove to Atlanta, parked our very ornately decorated car, and hopped on the plane. When we arrived in Jamaica and made it through customs (a very long process), we made our way out of the airport. It was dirty, it smelled, if Adam hadn't been there I was sure I would have been mugged. Thank the Lord our cab driver, Smiley, got there quickly. Because drinking and driving aren't illegal in Jamaica no one thought it strange we were having a Rum Punch in the back of the van. No one. About two minutes into our hour and a half drive Smiley said, "ya wanna see da marijiana farm? you kihn buy some dere. No problem here in Jamaica."Adam and I exchanged shocked glances and politely turned down his offer. Because we always pass on grass.
The van had no air conditioning (and we soon learned our cabana didn't either) so the drive seemed to drag on. But when we arrived at our resort it was like stepping into paradise. We were quickly checked in and showed the ropes by Karen. We got settled in our room-- it was amazing-- and freshened up for dinner. Then we tried to be nice and meet the few people hanging around by the cliffs, but it was really hard because we were so tired. After having Glen, the bar tender, insist I have a 'dirty banana' drink (and I'm so glad he did! that thing was amazing!) we drug ourselves to dinner. That night we fell into bed, exhausted. Jamaica was a much needed break for us after the crazy wedding weekend. We are so thankful we got to have such an awesome honeymoon. We snorkeled, scuba dived, relaxed, slept, ate, went to a craft market, slept, ate, and had another dirty banana. It was awesome, and just what the doctor ordered!

Our First Sunset at "The Caves"-- That's what our resort was called.

A very tired me

They had THE most amazing food there. Our first night we had Jerk Chicken!

First morning after a good night's sleep

Paul, the guide for snorkeling trips was about to jump off this 50 foot cliff here

This is one of the many cool lay-out spots

Sunset in the hot tub. So beautiful!

Really yummy banana bread and chocolate cupcakes

I got stung by a jelly fish... you can't really see it. Guess I was being a wimp

Very breath-taking cave dinner

One of my favorites!

All the food was amazing. But the banana pancakes were something out of a dream... I'm hearing a theme hear with the bananas. Jamaicans must really like bananas-- and I'm glad. (I know some of you think I don't like bananas, and that's partly true. I don't like plain bananas. Like, peel and eat. Gag!)

Steak and Lobster night!

Oh. My.

Adam tried his hand at the camera, and I have to say he ALWAYS takes better pictures than me! Atleast I get to be in them :)

Adam and I grew to LOVE hot tea for breakfast while in Jamaica. It is a staple in our home now. Earl Grey with Organic Cane Sugar!

Adam being a goof!

The blue hole! You jump down into this and you swim out of a cave... pretty sweet!

Our last night Adam found this little guy while we were walking around, taking pictures of everything we forgot to take pictures of before. I hope you enjoyed this post! Love y'all!
